A Self-Portrait
Video installation, 2018.
Duration: 23 min 17 sec

“Men act and women appear. Men look at women, women watch themselves being looked at.
This determines not only most relations between men and women, but also the relation of
women to themselves. The surveyor of women in herself is male: the surveyed female. Thus she turns herself into an object - and most particularly an object of vision: a sight.”
- John Berger

"A Self-Portrait" is a 23 minute and 17 second long video installation where we observe a woman in the process of taking a photographic self-portrait. The video is projected on a wall and in front of the video lies a handwritten note. The note located on the floor is the same piece of paper that appears in the video as the woman is reading it.
